The Water
The Rolling J Watershed is comprised of three Rivers totaling approximately 2.25 miles.
1 Mile of The Arkansas River with 8 fishing beats
That runs N-S on the E boundary of the property– Only miles from its headwaters at Fremont pass, “The Ark” is an angler’s dream whether hucking streamers, nymph fishing, casting dry-droppers, or artfully presenting dry flies.
¾ of a Mile of the Lake Fork of The Arkansas (aka Turquoise River) with 8 fishing beats
That runs NW-SE and runs into the Arkansas River at the southern boundary of the ranch. This river is a tail water that begins 2 miles N of the ranch at the Turquoise Reservoir. Because of its uniqueness being a “tailwater,” the Lake Fork offers consistently controlled flows, it rarely freezes, bug life abounds and excellent fishing is available year round. There are very few private tailwater properties in Colorado.
½ of a Mile of Halfmoon Creek with 6 fishing beats
That runs NW-SE and meets the Lake Fork River halfway through the property. This is a technical, stealthy fishery with thin water and spooky fish. However, a graceful approach will reward an angler with the fight of lifetime when a 16” brown hits a fly on the end of a 3wt rod.
All Rivers and beats offer an extraordinary fishing experience. Deep holes, fast ripples, mellow seams and lazy bends can be found on all 3 bodies of water. Structure abounds in the form of rocky dams, felled logs, undercut banks and willow hidden eddies.
